Need advice for trading with the EU? You can get a grant of up to £2,000 to cover our support

Under the Brexit Support Fund, businesses are able to reclaim up to £2,000 to cover VAT advice and consultancy related to trading with the EU (importing or exporting).

This means that you can arrange for our experienced tax team to advise you on EU importing or exporting and then reclaim our fees in full or part.

The funding is available to entities with under £100m turnover and less than 500 employees. Groups of companies are assessed on their individual basis, with each company able to make its own claim for advice.

Examples of advice that could be covered

  • Advice on customs, excise or VAT relating to importing or exporting obligations.
  • Advice on specific aspects of regulations such as clarification of rules of origin or VAT relating to imports or exports.
  • Advice to help you prepare for the new import controls coming into force from April and July 2021.

How can I claim?

To claim you must complete the application form, providing our quotation and business details (our name and address) and details of the advice being provided.

You will then need to submit evidence within 2 calendar months (or by 31 August at the latest) including our VAT invoice (which we send on completion of your work). You will also need to provide a redacted bank statement showing your payment to us.

The funding will be paid within 30 days for all valid claims and applications are being administered by PwC on behalf of HMRC.

Why us?

At Rouse we have a dedicated tax team which includes VAT specialists who are highly experienced and familiar with the new rules for trading with the EU.

We are also members of Praxity, the world’s largest alliance of independent accounting firms, meaning we carry out a wide range of international assignments and have access to experienced advisors in over 100 counties worldwide.

Further details

The fund is now open for applications and is expected to close to new applications on 30 June 2021 or earlier if all funding is allocated before this date.

It is likely that the fund will be heavily subscribed and therefore we would advise those businesses interested to arrange the necessary VAT advice as soon as possible.
